About

Through fundraising and donations we are elevating the Infrastructure, facilities, equipment at Infants Schools, to allow it’s students to meet their future dreams.

The children we support have an incredible thirst for knowledge and a determination to achieve success. The teachers of these schools display heroic effort to educate, inspire and grow their students even under the most difficult of circumstances.

As a non-profit organisation, your donations and support will help to make a real change to the lives of these students and give them a chance of the bright future every child deserves.

All funds donated are used directly to support the infants schools we work with.

Our Story

We were deeply moved by the radiant spirit of the pupils

In 2017 a group of friends visited a deprived Infants School, located in the countryside outside of Nairobi, Kenya.  We were deeply moved by the radiant spirit of its pupils, their love of school and desire to learn.  All of this inspiration was shown by these young children despite the lack of basic facilities, equipment and resources available.

We vowed to come back to our homes in the UK and from here, make a difference to the futures of these children.

This was the start of the journey for Bright Start Foundation and the pupils of this school. Our charity has started small, but are thinking big and are looking for both donations and volunteers to make that happen.

Our Projects

Our on-going projects make a direct impact on the children

Sponsorship

Through donations from our supporters we are currently sponsoring 15+ Children to attend full time education.

We are engaging in different fundraising activities to reach this goal.

We are also currently looking to install a borehole close to the Kintondo Infants School. This will provide the school with unlimited water access which the children currently do not have access to. It will also provide us with an opportunity to organise support for the local community who currently do not have any access to water.

We are working hard to generate the funds to get this started.

Small Wins

Donations raised by fundraising and donations have enabled us to supply the following:

Big Wins

Our first major milestone is the completion of a much needed new classroom at Kithimani School.

Currently children are packed into classrooms with as many as 100 children, sharing desks with multiple year groups in one small room.

Future Plans

We are currently fundraising for a children’s play area and a tarmac football pitch. The outside area of the school is made up of sand/dust and potholes which can make it dangerous for the children to play.

The cost of this project is £2,000 and we are engaging in different fundraising activities to reach this goal.

It will also provide us with an opportunity to organise support for the local community who currently do not have any access to water.

The cost of this project is £15,000 and we are working hard to generate the funds to get this started.

Bright Start Foundation are a small charity focussed on big change. Our mission is to transform the lives of Kenyan children living in the poorest conditions through education.

Through fundraising and donations we are elevating the Infrastructure, facilities, equipment at Infants Schools, to allow it’s students to meet their future dreams.

We have partnered with two schools in a rural deprived area of kenya. We carry out projects based on the need at the time/what individuals choose to fundraise for.

As we are a small charity it gives us the opportunity to adopt high standards of control over any funding received. We are close to the projects and the partners we work with meaning there are very short lines of communication. This allows us to respond quickly to situations and requests.

We have very low overheads, with much of the work in the UK done by professionally qualified trustees and volunteers with backgrounds in education, healthcare, finance, risk management and construction, who give their time for free. This ensures that all expenditure is spent in Kenya supporting the children and their needs.

Each year, a small group of trustees travel to Kenya to meet with the partners and project managers. These Kenyan based progress reviews are a valuable part of governing the projects and helping to ensure that our supporters’ money is used efficiently and as intended.

The price of each project is different and can slightly vary depending on the exchange rate at the time. If you are interested in donating to a specific project the Bright Start Foundation can provide you with a breakdown of the costs of the project. Please find our contact details on the Contact us section above.
We are grateful for all donations no matter what the amount we promise to use them to help some of the world’s poorest children.

Cheques should be made out to Bright Start Foundation.
